The Plowed Road
Acrylic Painting Spring 2015
The beginning starts with drawing a grid on the canvas board.
with mars black acrylic paint. When the black is completely dry
remove the loose charcoal with a soft cloth or paper towel.
With the black completely dry dampen the canvas and spread a wash of cadmium orange over the whole canvas. lightly dab off the colour over the larger areas of black and let dry. Begin to paint the white areas with titanium white. Paint in the dark blue areas with cerulean blue. I painted in the sky with a mixture of cerulean and white first.
I painted the light blue and dark blue at the same time working back and forth to adjust the colour.
The green, a mixture of yellow ochre and cerulean was painted on the fence and parts of the house as well as the trees and the background to the left of the painting.
I made adjustments to the roof and the shadows on the red parts of the building. The painting is not yet finished. Branches and trees are yet to painted. I will add a finished image in the near future after I have demonstrate the technique in class.
The above image is the original painting that sold quit a while back.
It is 16x20 on gallery canvas
Have a great day and keep on painting.
