The image chosen for this TRIAD painting exercise
It is important to think about the three areas of this painting.
The areas as shown are where decisions are made and about the location of VALUES.
VALUE means light medium and dark areas of the painting
Small value sketches are made using only three values: white, middlegray which is a No.5 gray, and black.
By the way I raised the horizon line up to
accommodate the rule of thirds. One third sky, two thirds foreground.
One sketch is chosen and a choice of a TRIAD colour
harmony is selected.
I noted the colour and values on the selection as a plan to follow.
The TRIAD colour harmony selected for the painting.
The painting using the above TRIAD colour harmony.
Another painting using the same TRIAD colour harmony.
This TRIAD colour harmony was used for the following image.
Working with limited colours can be challenging but also a lot of fun.
It is a great way to learn about mixing colour and of course the idea of
colour harmonies. The paintings provide believable and surprising colors.
Have a great day and keep on painting.
