Green Field Acrylic Painting

Paint a wash of Cadmium Orange and draw with either black or white  charcoal the grid and the outlines of the major shapes.

The above image is the ref photo for the painting.
I found the furrows an intriguing challenge. The furrows provided a path for your eye into the painting.

Paint in the black major shapes.  I got carried away and began painting the blue shapes as well as the sky using cerulean blue and white.

I finished scumbling the sky.  I next  scumbled in the light green first and then after it dried scumbled the dark green.  The scumbling will ensure  the orange under wash will show through.  This is what gives the painting life and sparkle.

I painted the light green over the dark green in the field using dabs of colour.

The Sky was softened and the blacks in the trees and around the barn and out buildings are restated.  The furrows in the foreground are painted with a rigger.  I chose to paint only a little of the furrows.  Any more effort on the furrows would distract from the barn and trees.

That was fun.

Have a great day and keep on painting.
